A date to remember

A large numeral seven forms the backbone of this date tattoo. The word July crosses it in a much finer script, with loops extending to either side. The difference between the solid numeral and the delicate lettering makes the two parts easy to read together.

Placed on the upper back, the piece leaves plenty of open space around the lettering. Its long flourishes spread sideways while the seven gives it height. The composition shows how a short date can become a visual design through weight, spacing, and the movement of a line.
