A lion’s face sits at the centre of this forearm piece, surrounded by a loose frame of flowers and leaves. Fine marks in the mane contrast with the broader petals, giving the portrait a soft border without losing the strength of the animal’s expression.
The design runs along the forearm rather than forming a straight-edged panel. Personal script sits above the flowers, while the stems taper towards the wrist. Seen together, the portrait, lettering, and botanical details feel like parts of one composition.
